Service Learning Class visits Operation Christmas Child Center
This year at GMC the Operation Christmas Child project raised 450 boxes.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a yearly project from the Samaritans Purse. They provide boxes to children worldwide on Christmas. Samaritan's purse is a Christian organization that uses shoeboxes to spread the gospel. They partner with many schools and churches to bring gifts to these children.
With all Blazers Blocks at GMC competing in the yearly competition on how many boxes you can make and send in, we were able to make and send 450 boxes! All Blazer Blocks had a blast in this crazy competition.
Gonzalez’s Blazer Block did an awesome job raising 75 boxes but, couldn't quite catch up to Coach Mills Block which raised 79 boxes. Way to go guys!
The service learning class of GMC was happy to help pack all of the boxes at the process center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
When GMC teacher Shelly Bishop was asked what it is like to participate in OCC at GMC she said, “Participating in Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful opportunity to be a global influence for good."
GMC can’t wait to participate next year in OCC and make an even bigger difference.
