Student Resource Officer?
At the first board committee meeting of the year, the committee spoke of hiring a student resource officer. However, charter schools have a harder time paying for student resource officers because they are not eligible for state funding. Due to this, GMC has decided to put the idea on hold to see if the law changes and state funding is approved before hiring an officer. Right now, the law states that districts with the smallest taxpaying capability will be given the most attention. This law is not applicable to GMC. The law also explains how schools may fill out an application to become eligible for funding to purchase any school related items, such as a school resource officer or security cameras.
