Modest is Hottest
Skimpy clothes. Let’s talk about it.
This is a difficult topic to tackle, but why not? Let’s try to set some guidelines. Let me preface by say that I am judging no one, as well as this is MY opinion. If you don’t agree with what I say, that's okay, you don't have to.
How should we define skimpy? We all have different definitions. I’m by no means saying that you should cover up from head to toe (unless, of course, your religious beliefs require more modesty than what I am about to talk about). Let’s start with a simple question: “Would your parents let you walk out of the house in that?” Or if you believe in God, “How would He feel about that outfit?” Yeah, I just went there.
Shorts - I’m just going to be honest; the shorts I wear in the summer, outside of school, are not dress code. They are slightly shorter than mid-thigh, but follow my youth groups fingertip rule. I didn’t buy them because of that, but I personally don’t feel comfortable in anything shorter. My #1 rule for shorts is “Nobody wants to see your butt.” This applies to girls and guys. Guys, if you are wearing boxers that are longer than your shorts, just no. Now, all the above said, I am not telling you to break dress code. My khaki shorts are bermudas . Yeah, I know, but rules are in place for a reason. Follow them, or face detention from Mr. Lowman or Mr. Dillard.
Pants - I’m not asking you to wear baggy sweatpants, but if you look like you’re going to need to be cut out of your pants, maybe go a size up. And no sagging! That is not attractive to anyone.
Shirts - ladies, no one wants to see all your chest. Cover it up. Both genders, same rule about the pants applies to your shirt. Guys, we know you have muscles, but a t-shirt is better than looking like you are wearing a shirt from middle school. Ladies, skin-tight is just not that flattering. And if something is see through, wear something under it like a tank top. This also applies to both genders.
There’s not much else for me to say. Just remember, modest is hottest!
