The GMC board discussed a new program being used at GMC at their monthly board meeting on Jan. 27 2020.
GMC is now using BARK, a nonprofit data evaluation platform that scan emails and other documents for certain key terms and phrases. If these key terms and phrases are found GMC's administration will be alerted. Administration is also alerted if issues are found in images.
BARK uses DNS filtering to to keep students off certain websites, but GMC can adjust the filters to block specific problem sites used by GMC students. The Problem sites are found using insightful reports.
BARK's monitoring program is going to help keep GMC students safe from sites that could negatively impact the learning environment. BARK also keeps students safe from cyber bulling and sexting.
BARK was launched in 2018 and in the first year became the most trusted program for over a thousand school districts.
